Hotwire Technology Report - June 9, 2003

We’ve got some technologies for you -- technology news that is. If you’re thinking about tossing aside your glasses, tearing up your contacts, but you’re worried about subjecting your vision to Lasik eye surgery, wavefront technology might be the motivation you need to get the job done. Wavefront is the next generation of laser vision correction.

Dr. Andrew Caster, the medical director of Caster Eye Center in Beverly Hills, California, told Hotwire the new surgery uses software that measures about 200 places on the eye and applies a separate correction to each spot, where as traditional Lasik eye surgery applies a single overall average correction.

Patients should be aware that no surgery is without risk.
